May 17, 2010

Hey there, Eric here again:) Just wanted to tell you that I am excited for these upcoming shows:

We will be headlining Tulsa Pride this year and I will be building a set for this show (!!) with Jimmy, and some friends of ours today. Have some big stuff in store for the night. Here is the poster:)

The band will be performing this coming month for Pride events in: Albuquerque (June 10th at the SOCH!), Oklahoma City (June 25th-Pride Block Party at The Boom!), and St. Louis Pride (June 27th). I will be appearing solo acoustic at Las Cruces for an event (with my good friend and talented songwriter, Namoli Brennet!) on June 18th and again with her at Tucson Pride’s H20 event on the 19th. I will also be performing at Emerald Coast Pride in Panama City Beach on June 26th! If you are around these next two weeks, I will also be headed through Louisville, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and New York City solo acoustic (check the tour page. Also joined by Andy Moore on a few dates!!!).

July 2nd will also be a big day for this little band of ours because it is our first show where we perform an entire set of another musician’s songs. This show is titled: Eric and the Adams goes GAGA! We will perform the hits of GAGA with some big stage and musical surprises. DEFINITELY not the show to miss. One Night Only. Check out the poster we made for it:

See you soon and have a great summer!:)

ERIC AND THE ADAMS WILL ALSO BE PERFORMING AT HAL AND MAL’S IN JACKSON, MS BEFORE HEADING TO THE STUDIO IN NASHVILLE TO RECORD THEIR FIRST CD/EP WITH PRODUCER, RICK DELIMA!!!:)

October 2, 2009

Hey:)

Here is a little wrap-up video from the end of my trek to the west coast and midwest. Had a lot of fun and read/heard some great audio-books (Eat. Pray. Love. by Elizabeth Gilbert…it was about meditation and it was awesome; and Kathy Griffin’s “Official Book Club Selection”…you would be suprised about her life, though she seems to tell a lot on stage. I LOVED hearing her stories about stardom and growing up).

Thanks to everyone who came out and sang along. San Fran and Seattle especially amazed me (and even helped me) with some of the words to the songs!

Now I am back at home doing the newsletter and spending my time in Tulsa before our, Eric and the Adams, big CD release party December 5th at Electric Circus club in Tulsa, yeah!!!! It all is getting to be so real, i love it. we head to the studio in two weeks and putting the finishing touches on it right now.

I spent this week with some great music folks. Hanson, a band I highly enjoyed growing up, live in Tulsa and kicked off their recent tour here this Wed.night. Beforehand, they have everyone come down to walk a mile for charity. It was fun and I even got to talk to Isaac Hanson (the oldest and guitar playing one) for some of it. They were great guys and very appreciative about everyone coming down. Their show that night was great too. I think their three part harmonies can not be beat.

Yesterday, I spent the morning with the band on Channel 8, ABC affiliate in Tulsa, promoting our appearance at the battle of the bands (ROCK the 918) at Cain’s Ballroom. I have been trying to get us on the stage there and finally (through a great charitable event) we are doing it!! The morning show went great (we played “Only” and I will post that on here soon when we get our copy) and then it was off to the dentist. Got two fillings in a half hour (fast, yeah!) and spent the next three hours hanging out with my new friend, Fred, while he was in town with his band, The B-52’s. I took him around Tulsa (I think it was his first time here) and introduced him to a few folks. He is down to earth, fun, and it was nice to get to ask him some questions about his views on things (music, etc.). He has a side project band, The Superions (http://www.myspace.com/thesuperions) that he is getting out there.

Last night, Jimmy, our friends, Emily and Adam, went down to their show at the River Spirit Casino and they put on a fun show. I can”t even begin to describe the chaos that ensues when they play “Love Shack”. It is crazy.

Today is back to the grind and trying to get some interest from the papers in the new Eric and the Adams disc with success:). I can’t wait to see where this band goes. Time to go make some dinner for me and the Ry. Maybe potato latkes and grilled chix????

Benefits And My Shows…

July 21, 2009

I swear I feel like I haven’t had that much downtime so I am curious as to how I ended up addicted to so many new TV shows??!! Weeds, Nurse Jackie, True Blood, Hung to name a few. The band has been going non stop with Pride shows and benefits. We were just asked to play at a prom like event for a Burn Camp an hour away from Tulsa. Burn Camp is a week long camp for youth who have been severely burned and is put on by the Firefighter’s Association.  I grew up with my grandfather who was badly burned by a firework as a child that he set off in his hands. I remember the scars on his neck and chest and that was when he was in his 60’s. I am so happy to be in a band with Angel and Jimmy who also believe in donating our time and music for events such as this. We are also performing the day before for The United Way’s Trailblazer event, a 5k run and block party. On a side note, it is lightening right now so I probably should get off the computer. Storms in OK are crazy to begin with. Will write more in the AM,~Ericps. check out the band site: www.ericandtheadams.com

I never thought one day that I would have a band website as well as a solo musician one. Very excited to show you all www.ericandtheadams.com! Enzo who did this site, created the Eric and the Adams site. Very similiar in some ways and strikingly different in others. All in all I am really impressed with it:).

Check it out: www.ericandtheadams.com!

Even doing a first tomorrow: playing the Airport. Never did that but should be interesting. It is for the Artists at the Airport series for DFest. Curious to see what its like playing there with the band acoustic.

As far as life goes, I am busy, busy, busy….always looking for a moment to take a break. Thinking about hitting up the west coast this Sept though. That should create more busy work. With my political compilation, “..politically speaking”, might be a good time to take it on the road and see its reaction while Eric and the Adams stuff takes off regionally. We are up for all these awards at the Absolute Best of Tulsa Music Awards and excited to see the outcome with all the votes.

If you get a chance, you can vote as much as you’d like for us in the following categories:Best Artist of the Year, Best Male Vocalist, Best Newcomer Band, Best Lounge Cover Act, Best None of The Above (guess we could get an award for not fitting into a category!:)go to: http://contest.flyfi.com/live/tulsamusicawards09/vote/and thank you thank you!!:)Ok, time to update the websites, book some gigs, and take a shower and go to bed…what a day. I even made this video for the band:

NIght!~Eric

Absolutely…tired.

June 10, 2009

Why do I always blog before I go to bed…. I swear I am becoming Doogie Howser, MD. I wish they would show reruns of that show! I need to talk to Neil!

This weekend, the band and I drove all over Tulsa (played at the Flytrap for a showcase, played Lola’s, played Tulsa Pride-above video), and then drove north 5 hours to Kansas City to play for Pride AND drove 5 hours back that night. Actually, Angel drove. We love her for having a big enough car to haul all our crap.

This weekend is no different with me headed to Albuquerque from Thurs to Sat. then flying to Pittsburgh to meet up with the band to play Pride there with all our friends. Andy Moore will be singing with us too, yeah!

I need to figure out how to take some more video on my camera to throw up on YouTube from our travels. I have a little bit now and should have a decent video by this weekend so stayed tuned.

In other news, I just received a Best of the Best in music award from Oklahoma Magazine’s readers! AND the band received three nominations for the Absolute Best of Tulsa 2009 Awards taking place this August. THis means I will need some serious voting going on starting Thurs, if you wouldn’t mind. I was also nominated myself for Best Male Vocalist and Best Artist of the Year!

OK, now I am fading and I need some zzzz’’sssss. Where is my dog so I can tuck him into bed?

Night~Eric

Videos I Forgot To Post!!

May 14, 2009

Here I sit on a stormy night in Broken Arrow, OK. Hope it wont get too bad tonight, been a long day and they mention tornados (how did I get here again?!ha).

I forgot to post some videos and some links to a few cool things!

First off, here are two videos from my touring through Pittsburgh, the first a gig at Club Cafe with my recording musicians, Dan Bozek on bass and Erik Kerr on drums. We rocked it there on May 2nd, check it out:

Here is another video of me and my friend, Nicole Steele (she played drums on my third cd, All For Show!) playing, “Only” at a gathering in the burgh’:

This month I also was featured in The Advocate’s June issue for their 40 under 40 pioneers of the LGBT community. Very cool and featured alongside Sia, Rachel Maddow, and Milk writer, Dustin Lance Black!

As for everything else, I am super psyched that the band was confirmed to play Dfest in Tulsa this summer! It is headlined by the Black Crowes and they are one of my favorite bands! The band went last year and we walked around and took it all in. SO wierd that this year we will be playing it! Guess you never know where life will take you. I recently emailed Dawn Richardson, drummer for 4 Non Blondes back in the day, and she told me that she is now drumming for Tracy Chapman! She even said you never know where you will end up.

On that note, off to bed:)
