Benefits And My Shows…
July 21, 2009
I swear I feel like I haven’t had that much downtime so I am curious as to how I ended up addicted to so many new TV shows??!! Weeds, Nurse Jackie, True Blood, Hung to name a few. The band has been going non stop with Pride shows and benefits. We were just asked to play at a prom like event for a Burn Camp an hour away from Tulsa. Burn Camp is a week long camp for youth who have been severely burned and is put on by the Firefighter’s Association. I grew up with my grandfather who was badly burned by a firework as a child that he set off in his hands. I remember the scars on his neck and chest and that was when he was in his 60’s. I am so happy to be in a band with Angel and Jimmy who also believe in donating our time and music for events such as this. We are also performing the day before for The United Way’s Trailblazer event, a 5k run and block party. On a side note, it is lightening right now so I probably should get off the computer. Storms in OK are crazy to begin with. Will write more in the AM,~Ericps. check out the band site: www.ericandtheadams.com
Morning!
July 1, 2009
I’ve decided to write in the morning that late at night before I go to bed (Doogie Howser, MD style). I am hoping I will have more to say,ha.Been trying to do this thing called…errr….relax. I was never very good at it growing up. I don’t characterize myself as high energy, probably just a nervous busy body. Always thinking, ya know? It’s been a while since I tried to sit down and do nothing. I watched a bunch of TV (my new favorite shows are True Blood, Weeds, Nurse Jackie, and Hung) and after that I started to get the itch to start working again.I am going into the recording studio next week after not being in one since December 07′. I am recording this song I wrote with my new band, Eric and the Adams, and it is VERY exciting to see where this process goes. I intend to have us put out a full cd next March with a big marketing push and watch it spread it like wildfire. This new song is intense with a fun beat and kinda cheeky in the lyrics (never did that before). I am ready to rock a bit harder than I ever have before on cd so this should be fun as hell. I also have never done a showcase for music industry folks which is what we are also doing in Nashville next week. I know it will be a positive experience, a learning experience for us three. I just want to make sure we have pushed ourselves to point where they look at us as a serious investment. We are practicing quite a bit on this and all I have to remember is to stay out of my head and move around a bit onstage more (sometimes I wish I’d write more instrumental parts to step away from the mic and think of things to do that are more theatrical in nature).Ok, I guess I do write more in the mornings,ha. Must be the coffee. I’ve given up soda to see how I react differently (I think I was addicted). In life, I have always tried to break addictions when I felt they were getting a good grip on me. So far, so uncarbonated. I miss that little burn I get when I take that first sip of my Diet Cherry Pepsi…ok, see why I got addicted?Off to go to the mall. I freaking grew up in malls. I LOVE malls, another addiction I guess. I don’t really find myself there that often unless I need something at the Apple store but i get so excited to go. Every Saturday of my childhood, my dad took us to the mall to get us out of the house. You could waste so much time in a mall. Might even get myself a piece of Godiva chocolate. Ok, now I REALLY need to go to the mall (I sound like a 16 year old girl).~Ericps.
