Eric And The Adams Phase 2

May 29, 2009

I need to blog more. I think I have been neglecting it with all the behind the scenes stuff I am doing with the band.  I will try to blog more with updates. Here are my thoughts with the band. We KICK ASS! This band has been a dream of mine for so long. I loved touring the country solo acoustic and will continue to do so but the challenge of a rock band and switching to electric has been so rewarding and a big learning process. Jimmy and Angel are amazing and have taken my dream to new places with all that they bring to the table. I wouldn’t want to do this with anyone else the way we are doing it. If you see our posters and graphic stuff, that is all done by Angel. She is not only our drummer but an amazing graphic designer. She is a gem (that is what my grandma would say about her). She designed not one, but THREE new T-shirts of ours to sell this fall and with our new website going up soon (www.ericandtheadams.com), there will be a chance to purchase them right off the site!We are working on our first original songs together and last night started the process. We all have different influences so it should be interesting to see what style evolves from it. We are also working on some fun new covers that I CAN NOT WAIT to unleash on the crowds this summer. With a busy touring schedule on the weekends, we are all excited to see the reaction to us in many places that I have played solo for years. Today, I am getting ready for a big garage sale and getting rid of some old stuff. I never know how to price these things. If you go too high, no one touches them; if you go too low, people try to wheel and deal you from that low price. We already made $50 from it and we haven’t had the sale yet so we are off to a good start I think.:)Time to go drink my coffee, go to the bank, go to the gym, and then back to booking the rest of the summer dates:)~E

Website Overload….

May 28, 2009

Today, I am updating the million websites I feel I am on…Facebook, twitter, myspace, sonicbids, reverbnation, cdbaby.com, glee, my personal website not to mention my band myspace, sonicbids, etc. It is making me lose my mind a bit. I wonder if it would be best and a simpler time if everyone just had one website. Might not be as good for business but the playing field would be even. I get these emails all the time from companies that try to boost your numbers on myspace and create ads for you on Facebook. I can’t even keep up with all of it.I am trying to remember how I marketed myself before this boom in social networking sites. It was more word of mouth, flyers, and mailing out press kits. Oh, the days of doing all that are gone..On a separate note, I was very impressed with Rob Thomas today. I read his response to California’s Supreme Court decision upholding Prop 8 in the Huffington Post today and give him more credit than I ever had for him today. He was well spoken and made some great points (including one that referred to Atheists having the right to marry and and not Christian gays when religion is used as a discriminating tool in the matter).I hope gay marriage will be as natural as straight marriage someday and our children’s children will look at us as if we were crazy to ever think it was fair to uphold something like Prop 8.~E

Lazy….

May 22, 2009

What is with me today? I feel so lazy these days. Must be the nice weather and my new patio furniture…yes, I think that is it.My band, Eric and the Adams, have been playing a ton since going full force with our music this year. Not only are we performing all over for June, we just landed a huge thing for us: a spot at DFest, a Tulsa music festival and conference, that is being headlined this year by (drumroll): THe BLACK Crowes! SO excited about this, I love that band. We also are going into the studio to record our first song. I am giddy because this the first time in a long time, I step into the studio without the acoustic guitar, just the electric guitar and get loud! I have been studying my electric guitar and pedals like a madman this year and with this new sound, I know this band will go far. This band has been a dream come true for me because I actually started playing electric guitar first. I had to win my dad over with my playing on it so he would buy me an acoustic when I was 14 years old. So it is back to my old school of electric.I don’t know why I end up blogging after a few hours of staring at my computer updating the million sites I have to be on to get my music out there (ie. myspace, facebook, reverbnation, twitter, etc). It is crazy how long it takes to update all this stuff. Makes me tired…and when I get tired, I put in Willy Wonka and go to sleep with my puppydog, Duncan.g’night!~E

Videos I Forgot To Post!!

May 14, 2009

Here I sit on a stormy night in Broken Arrow, OK. Hope it wont get too bad tonight, been a long day and they mention tornados (how did I get here again?!ha).

I forgot to post some videos and some links to a few cool things!

First off, here are two videos from my touring through Pittsburgh, the first a gig at Club Cafe with my recording musicians, Dan Bozek on bass and Erik Kerr on drums. We rocked it there on May 2nd, check it out:

Here is another video of me and my friend, Nicole Steele (she played drums on my third cd, All For Show!) playing, “Only” at a gathering in the burgh’:

This month I also was featured in The Advocate’s June issue for their 40 under 40 pioneers of the LGBT community. Very cool and featured alongside Sia, Rachel Maddow, and Milk writer, Dustin Lance Black!
Check it out:

As for everything else, I am super psyched that the band was confirmed to play Dfest in Tulsa this summer! It is headlined by the Black Crowes and they are one of my favorite bands! The band went last year and we walked around and took it all in. SO wierd that this year we will be playing it! Guess you never know where life will take you. I recently emailed Dawn Richardson, drummer for 4 Non Blondes back in the day, and she told me that she is now drumming for Tracy Chapman! She even said you never know where you will end up.

On that note, off to bed:)

Sitting, Waiting….in Louisville

May 1, 2009

Just sitting here in Louisville in the food court at Live on 4th St. waiting for Samantha Ronson to start DJing out here. Been driving most of the day and got a chance to see my grandma (will post a pic of her wearing my Tshirt soon on FB). Last night’s show was fun, intimate but fun and I am hoping for a rowdy crowd tonight at Starbase Q at 11pm. These late shows always make me nervous waiting so long to play in the day, I mean night,ha. Tomorrow I drive over to Columbus which isn’t far away and gives me some more time to figure out how to use this MAC computer. I had a chance to show some cool things to the sound man over at Off Broadway and at that moment, I felt I entered into the Mac family. People who have them get so excited about them. The only thing I need now is a bigger screen!! Ok, going to go find some food and hopefully see Samantha!~E
